We give detailed description of our builds and the explanation of our decisions.
We are everyday people that understand the need to build a gun on a budget but also have experience with more exotic builds.
If we don't know we know someone who does.
Ok, so every hunter and their mother has an opinion on what caliber is the best for big game hunting...and they are not wrong! It is a matter of preference and budget. I chose the 300 Win Mag as my caliber. Why? First, it is a common caliber so you can find ammunition and rifles for better prices than some of the more exotic calibers. The 300 Win Mag will take down all of the animals in the US except for maybe a polar bear or musk ox. It will also be able to reach out and touch 1000 yards. While, I never plan to shoot an animal at that distance but long range shooting is also a great hobby. I chose the Rem 700 because I like the bolt and trigger. However, full disclosure, I am building this rifle on a budget and was able to purchase this rifle used. It was like new and only had 1 box through it and was half off normal price. This is my budget build as I am new to the west and trying to set up my gear quickly.
